More than just a tour of scenic or religious sites, the trip was an opportunity to explore as pilgrims the land of the roots of our faith, to read the familiar scriptures in the physical context in which they were written, and to encounter the current voices of faith, voices from the political, cultural and religious settings of our time, especially listening for the voice of peace in a region that has seen so much violence. The trip was focused on Jerusalem, but also included a 2-day excursion passing through the West Bank to travel up to the Galilee region. Throughout the pilgrimage, I kept a web-based journal, a narrative of our days and activities along with personal reflections; at the end of each day's story, there is a photo gallery that shows some images of that day's activities. This journal is a separate sub-web of this web site and can be accessed by clicking here: Jerusalem journal |
